In 2026, the Festival will take place from March 6 to 12, with key activities held in phường Điện Biên Phủ, promising to continue affirming and spreading the unique tourism brand of Điện Biên.
Since early February, Điện Biên province has issued a plan to organize the 2026 Bauhinia Flower Festival, assigning specific tasks to each department, sector, and locality. Preparation work has been implemented synchronously and urgently, from developing program scripts and urban renovation to stepping up promotion and advertising.
According to Nguyễn Thị Thanh Chuyên, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, this year’s Bauhinia Flower Festival not only inherits traditional activities but also focuses on innovating content to increase experience and interaction. The Bauhinia Flower Festival is both a cultural event and a unique tourism product of the province. Therefore, alongside the opening ceremony; festivals of folk songs, folk dances, and folk music; traditional ethnic costume performances; and sports and tourism promotion activities, the Department has proactively proposed new activities this year such as: A street carnaval; experiencing cooking with Hoàng Cầm stoves and “soldier meals”; and performances of dancesport and recreational dance.
In parallel with the main activities, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is coordinating with the People’s Committees of communes and wards to organize activities associated with local cultural identity. these include: Experiencing Thai ethnic culture and cuisine at Phiêng Lơi village; flower-viewing tours; and various cultural and artistic activities featuring the traditional culinary experiences of local ethnic groups.
Currently, the program scripts are being finalized. Coordination between agencies, localities, and businesses is being strengthened to ensure the Festival takes place safely and successfully, creating a unique highlight and spreading the friendly, identity-rich image of Điện Biên to domestic and international tourists.
The promotion for the 2026 Bauhinia Flower Festival is being implemented in a synchronized and methodical manner. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism advised the provincial People’s Committee to issue a communication plan while simultaneously developing a specific promotion plan for the entire sector to ensure information is spread widely. Promotion forms are diverse and flexible, ranging from visual displays and press coverage to electronic portals, social networks, and advertising at airports, passenger transport systems, and telecommunications networks. Promotion content is integrated with activities celebrating the Party and Spring, contributing to the cultural and social significance of the Festival.
The province has also focused on ensuring accommodation conditions early on. According to statistics, the entire province currently has 251 accommodation establishments with 3,306 rooms and 6,443 beds, including 39 hotels, 152 guesthouses, 18 guest houses, and 42 homestays. To prepare for the Festival, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has increased guidance for businesses to upgrade facilities, publicly list prices, and ensure security, fire safety, and food hygiene.
Nguyễn Thị Hiên, owner of A Thía Homestay in Mường Thanh ward, shared: “My family has prepared carefully since the plan for the Bauhinia Flower Festival was announced. We commit to not increasing prices to create a good impression on tourists.” In addition to improving room quality, many homestays have built experience packages such as cooking with the family, enjoying traditional cuisine, and cultural exchanges to encourage longer stays.
The list of accommodation establishments is regularly updated on mass media and social platforms to connect with travel agencies and tourists. A “hotline” number is also publicized to receive and promptly handle feedback or recommendations from tourists during the Festival, ensuring a safe, friendly, and professional tourism environment.
With thorough and synchronous preparation, the 2026 Bauhinia Flower Festival promises to be an attractive cultural and tourism destination, helping the image of Điện Biên resonate strongly on the tourism map of Việt Nam.
